Communicator: Cashiers need to be great communicators because they are constantly talking to the customers. They immediately and warmly greet the customers as they walk in. During the transaction, the cashiers communicate clearly to the extent that the customer is never left in doubt about the correct weight and correct change. The tone of the cashiers’ voice is helpful and accommodating and not patronizing nor irritated. Furthermore, they frequently give compliments such as “that’s my favorite” and “good choice of topping”. They also remember the customers’ names and use them such as “John, have an awesome day!” Great communicators ask questions to the customers such as “how’s your yogurt?” Then they validate a good response. Great communicators view a customer problem as an opportunity to dazzle the customers.
Competent: The competent cashier knows the menu like the back of their hand and will be able to recommend various flavors of frozen yogurt effortlessly. A cashier is quick and proficient at the register and doesn’t mind when customers change their order because it’s easy to fix.
Charming: According to Webster’s Dictionary, a “charmer” is upbeat, fascinating, or attractive person. The color scheme, art, and ambience of your store are all upbeat and upscale. A delightful cashier will enhance your store’s fun and cool image.
Charismatic: A charismatic cashier has a magnetic and winning personality. Customers and employees naturally want to be her/him. A charismatic personality radiates a positive energy that is contagious. A non-charismatic cashier is boring, unpleasant, grumpy, slow, offensive, or dull. This is not a good first impression of your store, it’s not our personality!
Confident: The cashier must be confident in your brand. She believes hook, line, and sinker that your frozen yogurt is the best on the planet. She speaks with passion about her favorite flavors and the seasonal specials. Her confidence excites customers about your business.
